The Business South West Board members bring a wealth of expertise and experience their crucial roles in guiding and supporting our programs.
Robyn Morris (PhD, MA (Econs), Dip. Ed., BA) is a business professional and Adjunct Academic in the School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University. With more than 20 years experience as a business management consultant she is co-owner and Director of Corporate and Regional Enterprise (CARE) Consulting. With an extensive background in tertiary education, and academic and applied research both nationally and internationally, Robyn holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour and Psychology from Queensland University of Technology, a Masters Degree in Economics from Miami University Ohio, and a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Geography from the University of Western Australia. She was appointed to the Business South West Board in 2016. She is also on the Regional Development Australia South West Boards and has previously served on the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government Rural-remote and Indigenous Local Government Reference Group and Research Advisory Committee, City of Bunbury Economic Advisory Committee, and the Boards of the Bunbury Wellington Economic Alliance, Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ECU South West and South West Institute of Technology. Robyn has a strong interest in local and regional economic development, entrepreneurship and small business development. She is well recognised for her skills in leadership, strategic thinking, research and community engagement.
Stephen Gaebler brings extensive experience that he has built over 45 years of work, community service and business development. Stephen has worked for a multinational company (NCR), established his own small businesses (WSG Pty Ltd, Comet Bay IT Services, Business Success Busselton, Coach Your Business and PPC Business Solutions) and has coached, and coaches, companies to greater success.
In his role of Treasurer for Busselton Jetty Inc. Stephen had oversight of the financial performance of the organisation working with staff and reporting to the Board.
Stephen organised a forum where innovation initiatives were the topic. The forum participants included political leaders in State and Local Government, business and community leaders. The initiatives coming from the forum are being implemented strategically for the benefit of the community. Stephen has been a manager of a state wide organisation (NCR) and the strategic manager of business development for several organisations (NCR, AlphaWest, WSG).
Strategic oversight combined with focused activity to achieve outcomes have been part of Stephen’s way of working for many years.
Stephen has worked with information technology, in the design for business purpose, implementation and ongoing support, having working in that field at NCR, AlphaWest and WSG.

Stephen Gaebler is an enthusiastic bicycle rider. He rides for exercise, he rides for relaxation and he rides for contribution. Every October he rides in the Greatest Cycle Challenge to raise funds for the support of kids with cancer. https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/StephenGaebler Why? Because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Australia. Over 600 Australian children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 children die every week.
Claire Barrett BBus(Mgt), GCertCAFound, GradDipCA, CA is a chartered accountant and taxation professional specialising in providing accounting and taxation services for small business clients.
She holds a Bachelor of Business in Management from Edith Cowan University, a Graduate Certificate of Chartered Accounting Foundations from Deakin University and a Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting from Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand.
Claire understands the challenges of small business owners coming from a family of small business owners. Her experience spans banking, retail and professional accounting services.
Claire was appointed to the Board of Business South West in 2013 as Treasurer.
Charlotte Brown is an advanced skills lecturer at the South West Regional TAFE and specialises in Business and Small Business management where she is helping local businesses for the past 13 years.
As the owner of Forest Adventures South West in Busselton, Charlotte has been involved in the ownership of local small businesses in the local tourism industry for 15 years.
Charlotte is passionate about helping develop the knowledge and support of local small businesses and holds a Bachelor (Hnrs) in Europe, a Graduate Diploma in Marketing, a Graduate Diploma in Vocational Education and a Master of Business Administration degree.
Jon is a professional practitioner in regional and local economic development. He has experience delivering economic development programs and services from Perth and four non-metropolitan regions including the Wheatbelt; Kimberley; Great Southern; and, South west regions, currently being employed by the City of Busselton as the Economic and Business Development Co-ordinator.
He has skills in managing projects in hard infrastructure (land and buildings) soft infrastructure (capacity building and regional skills development), tourism, horticulture, agriculture, transport, resource development, property development, place management, higher education planning, investment attraction, regional tourism marketing and community facility planning. Jon holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New England.
