Celebrating Regional Business Excellence
In 2019 we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the South West Business Excellence Awards (previously the South West Small Business Awards) which is proudly coordinated by Business South West. The Awards were created in 1995 to celebrate and recognise the achievements and resilience of the South West business community, as well as to bring local businesses together. From this small and humble beginning, the Awards has grown to become one of the most prestigious events on the South West business calendar.
For our 25th anniversary we are re-introducing a category for medium sized enterprises with between 21 – 100 employees. We believe these businesses deserve recognition for the contribution they make to the growth the prosperity of our local economy.

Cristal has been part of our community for over 55 years; providing jobs for our families, business opportunities and support for the community. Cristal employs over 450 local people across both Pigment and Mining businesses, and over 5,000 Cristal family members globally.
The Australind Pigment Operations incorporate two plants—at Kemerton and Australind—that produce titanium dioxide (TiO2) for Cristal. We are the world’s second-largest producer of TiO2, a bright white powder made from titanium ore that has the ability to pigment virtually any material. TiO2 makes possible the opacity, brightness and durability in paint formulas that have made modern paints more cost efficient, easier to use and friendlier to the environment. TiO2 also gives plastics and rubber opacity and whiteness. It is used in such diverse products as printing inks, paper, ceramics, glass, leather, synthetic fibers and colours formulated for art paints.
